Mariasole De Amicis

Mariasole De Amicis

BSc Student

University of Groningen

Mariasole is a third year Astronomy Bachelor student at the University of Groningen. She is broadly interested in planetary and atmospheric science, with a focus on Exoplanets and the Earth’s Middle Atmosphere. She is currently conducting a project on the atmosphere of WASP-39b using several spectroscopic instruments on JWST. Alongside her studies in Groningen, she has spent a semester in Svalbard, an archipelago close to the North Pole, where she studied the Middle Polar Atmosphere and Remote-Sensing Instrumentation. This experience strengthened her interest in atmospheric science and expanded it toward both exoplanetary and terrestrial contexts. She is particularly interested in bridging these two disciplines, exploring how techniques developed for one can inform and improve the other.

Her aim is to continue exploring different areas within atmospheric and exoplanet research, especially the role of instrumentation in advancing future observations. She hopes to build a strong interdisciplinary foundation as she prepares for her bachelor thesis and her future academic path.
